| I have been a bad bloger. Been too busy to be online for a long time. Our winter vacation is almost over. We are leaving New Orleans after a 2 week stay in the area. It is increadable to see the devastion from Katrina it is 19 months later and the rebuild is so slow. Whole neighbourhoods were destroyed and insurance money is slow to come, there may be one house out of twelve being rebuilt. It was heart braking to see the holes in the roofs where people had to chop their way out to be rescued or drown in their homes. It sure makes a difference to see this in person. We went the Red Hat Musical downtown at the Harrah's Casino, It was very well done and lots of laughs. I had ordered my tickets in Jan and we had front row center seats, so the view was great. We will have a stop in Charlotte SC so dh can take the 'Richard Petty School of Driving" he will get to drive a nascar around the Lowes Motorspeedway about 150 mph for 8 laps. I on the other hand will go for a "Ride Along" I will sit and scream in the car while a Pro driver takes me around the track 3 laps. It should be fun. Will be home by April 28. I hope our campground will have wireless internet installed for this season. Take care. | | |
| Here we waiting to go on our Horse Tour of the city. Our horse's name is Hero, he pulled a carriage of 16 people.
Charleston is a beautiful old city, with great mansions.
We said goodbye to Hero, and our guide Libby. We went out for dinner then to James Island and drove thru their display of Christmas Lights. It was quite a spectacular show of thousands of lights, and displays of Santa, Christmas scenes, even some space ships, dinasours, fishing boats, the Charleston bridge and many more. Truely spectacular! It was a fun packed day. Here is a sand castle display outside the gift shop Santa is on the left. It was cool outside so they had a fire pit to toast marshmellows and warm up. Bruce was waiting on us ladies to finish in the gift shop. More tomorrow. bye

| We had a series of bad storms go thru MB last night [Nov 15] this date apparently is notorious for tornados. I did not know that. I knew that the storms were coming. I did not go to bed until about 2:15 am. The rain had not started yet. I got to sleep but was awakened at 3:30 with rain on the roof and a continuous rubble of thunder. I got up to unplug the computer [which I had forgotten to do]. That woke Bruce so I turn the TV on to the weather station and there was a tornado warning for our area. The rain and thunder continued for about an hour and half. The thunder was so continuous without any break, just a rumble that last for over 5 minutes at a time. We did not get any great wind, I have been in worse in Oklahoma, I did get back to sleep around 5am. I was so surprised to hear in the morning that the storm killed 9 people in North Carolina, the NC border is just 15 miles north of us! Tornados sure are scary things. The storm hit at about 6 am. We were lucky I guess. Az and Ca donot have tornados and the 2 earthquakes I have felt in Ca were a piece of cake and no one was hurt. Anyway all is well with us and we are on the road tomorrow to Charleston, the sun should be out for the weekend. I sure hope that the rain stops in Ontario soon too. | | |
| We had a good trip down to Mrytle Beach, no problems on the way, the coach ran well. We arrived on Fri and Bruce's bro. Vern and his wife Cathy joined us for a week. We kept them busy every day. Shopping, playing cards at night, going to 2 shows, a Christmas Show at the Alabama Theater, it was terrific, 3 hours of songs and dancing and a comedian. the time flew by. We also ate dinners out 3 times. We ate at Benjamins Calabash, the Golden Corral, Hooters, and the last night was at the House of Blues. Loads of good food but not good for my diet. The 2nd show was The Grand Cirque, like Cirque de Soliel. Excellent, talented folk doing very difficult things. The weather has been pleasant we even got to go walking on the beach twice. Here are a couple of pics. Vern, Cathy,Diane,Bruce,Teddy,Dave
The water was fairly cold and the last wave just got my pants wet! Thats why my mouth is open.
We leave here on Friday and go to Charleston SC to visit with friends that live there. We will have 5days there so I will have some pics of that beautiful city. | | |
